The Story of The Blackened Teeth

The Blackened Teeth was formed in early 2018 by husband & wife, Rebecca and Lee.

Setting out to illustrate that macabre objects can be turned into thought provoking articles, made alluring through adornment and fine craftsmanship.

They use subjects that aren’t quintessentially used to beautify the home.

Rebecca’s background lies within Fine Art and Lee’s in construction.

Their combined experiences in these different fields meant that both concepts and processes were quickly brought to fruition. They hailed from a shed in Cardiff (South Wales) in 2018. They now work together with their team of Artisans in the South Wales Valleys designing and manufacturing homeware that is shipped all around the globe.

2018 to Present Day

Our journey so far

The Shed (Early 2018)

The journey began in a small shed. Built in the rain (we're stubborn) and funded by our day jobs. Many late nights were spent making in this wooden empire.

First Show (Cardiff 2018)

We step outside of the shed and head to a Tattoo Show to show the world our wares.

The Garage (Late 2018)

The shed space had been exhausted so we expanded into the garage and kept the shed for the really messy bits.

We get a USA Stockist (2019)

We make & ship pallets of stock, from our garage workshop - to the United States.

Keep Swimming (2019)

Truth be told - Lee never truly believed that we would have this many orders... until he physically saw the orders coming in. Thick. And fast.

The Skeleton Lamp is Born (2019)

The design that we are now known for in all dark abodes around the globe.

Rebecca Leaves Her Job (Late 2019)

We can't keep up with demand just by working at night & weekends. We toss a coin to decide who will leave their job. Lee's side of the coin lands. But he's not a risk taker...

The Garage is Becoming a Squeeze (Early 2020)

Early 2020 and there is minimal space left in our home workshop. Lee starts with some research (that's one of his super strengths!)

We get our first premises (Mid 2020)

Someone called us insane for doing it during Covid - but we did it anyway. 1000sqft of workshop.

2020 We Make Until...

Our hands bleed. There's another decision to be made. And there's only one side left on the coin...

The Coin is Flipped (Late 2020)

It lands on Lee (of course). Lee resigns from his job in Late 2020... just in time for the Christmas peak. He celebrates with a new hoover.

Second Floor Incoming (Early 2021)

Early 2021 (7 months after moving in) we have run out of operating space. So a mezzanine floor is installed to give us an extra 500sqft. We now have 3 staff (including us).

Mid 2020

We're glad of the space - our international orders continue to grow.

Late 2021

We now have 5 employees & zero space left after installing the floor earlier this year...

Christmas 2021

Bowled us sideways. There ain't no shortcut to anywhere worth going - we persevere. We are the real life Gothic Elves & no one will be getting a lump of coal for Xmas.

Mid 2022

The team grows and plans for space expansion begin.

We expand (Late 2022)

Our neighbours leave their unit next door and we snap it up. We expand to 2500sqft.
